It was issued in Mauritius during the British Colony in 1847; it was modeled on the British stamps with a picture of Queen Victoria. Just 26 copies are known to still exist and it was actually the first British Commonwealth Stamps that was made outside of Great Britain, this is the main reason the Mauritius stamps have a value of more than €1 million each.
